Hello my friends, Just a quick request for storyboard program reviews, any one use them? I am tired of my stick figure boards. Any one... any one? Oh I also would love any input on any boarding software that contains a setting for boarding animated films. Yes, I am working on an animated screenplay and only draw stick figures. (Oh the shame).

Hi again! [26 May 2006|09:43am]

Hey all. I'm back again. I just wanted to let everyone know that DW Moffett did get a LJ after all. I told him what a great reception I got when I did this and he was really interested.

He's at dw_moffett and he's been in lots of movies and television programs. He'd love to have you stop by and friend him and ask him questions. He's acted with just about everyone in the business, so this is your chance to ask him about his work!!

Thanks again for the great reception. I'll get some numbers on "Special Ed" rentals soon and share them. It's all thanks to you guys, so I appreciate it!!!

Have a good one!

Cross posted to a couple of places...sorry if it's spam...

Hey everyone. My name's Jeff Phelps and I'm an actor and director. I'm new to this so if this isn't allowed, I apologize.

My first movie, "Special Ed" just came out in Blockbuster this week. I wrote it and directed it. It stars DW Moffett ("Thirteen", "For Your Love"), Greg Germann ("Ally McBeal")and Connie Britton ("Friday Night Lights").

I'm new to Livejournal and just learning my way around things, but I'd love it if you'd stop by and see what's up and maybe friend me. I'm trying to spread the word any way I can.

DW might be getting a LJ too, so if you've seen any of his stuff and like it, keep watching. He'd love to hear from you and so would I.

Thanks!

Self impossed deadlines. Good or Bad? [07 May 2006|12:08am]

Hi all. I am sort of new in this community. I've been lurking for months but didn't really say anything. So hi there.

Whats every ones thoughts on the "self imposed deadline'. Has anyone worked that way where they just say "ok, i'm gonna start this thing and have it finished on this date"? I was never all that good at deadlines at uni so I deliberately gave myself till august to finish the first draft of my latest. The only problem is that procrastination is my mantra right now.

Whats everyone else's experiences with this.

Good books [12 Dec 2005|05:28pm]

_kamil_
Hello, everybody.
If anybody of you learns filmmaking in universities or works in professional filmmaking companies, give me, please, titles of best (!) tutorials in movie directing, editing, and screenwriting.
I'm not in USA now and can't buy such books in shops. I've seen many such books in american e-shops, but I can't buy all of them. :)
Thanks.

Hey,
I'm Cassie, if you want to know. I have a story for a film storming around in my head, developing and whatnot, and I'm starting to get it down in my computer, but I'm wondering if anyone here can either help me out with the proper format for writing a screenplay, or knows a GOOD place where I can get this information.

Thanks a whole bunch,

Cassie B.

Hey kids. I haven't been here in months but it seems we have quite a few new members, so I guess I will throw this to the wolves for feedback:

Response is very positive overall. In fact, this guy is attached for Mr. Littlefield.

Would you see a movie about the following? It is very important for me to know!

"Summer in Bedlam" is the story of Kelly Hunter, an aspiring young woman dying to make something of her less than perfect life, but has no clue how. The film takes place in a small racially divided town. Kelly wants nothing more than to leave behind the ignorance of her Texas home. One summer night she meets John Porter, an ambitious, black young man from Houston. He is unlike anyone Kelly has ever met. John helps to counsel Kelly about her future, and college, and the two form a special friendship that soon blossoms into a romantic relationship. But racism, jealousy, and a former love soon test their bond. Kelly is then forced to choose between a past that she knows and a future of which she has no idea about.

Hi all,

I'm wondering if any of you have entered or watched Project Greenlight. It's about to land in Australia and I'm thinking of putting my script Putting On Gracie's in as a submission, but i dont know squat about what it managed to create for those who wrote and won in america or anywhere else in australia.

Anyone with any advice for an aussie script writer who doesn't know what he is doing beyone making words appear on a white screen in front of him as he zones in and out of reality??

Thanks
Mike

Some help? [25 Nov 2004|01:57am]
morpheussleeps
Let's say I'm putting together a portfolio and that I have only ten pages to work with. Out of all the screenplays I've written, I'm trying to decide what would be best to include. The following would take up about seven pages (I would either write three more pages, include three pages from another script or take up the rest of the pages with photographs), do you think it's good work or should I turn to other material? I want people's opinions here!

(BTW: working title is Lives at Masada.)

Seven Pages To Die By.Collapse )

Thanks in advance.

Okay my school is doing a production of "The Last Gladiator" for our school play. It's a comedy. There are 6 male roles. I'm a funny person. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY ADVICE THAT'LL MORE OR LESS LOCK UP A ROLE!?!?!? Besides brwon nosing? Most of the guys honestly brown nose in my school. AND fyi I am a Junior in high school (if seniority plays any role in high school politics)For a monologue i chose "Ferris Bueller's into monologue: Key to faking out the parents and how isms are bad" , this best represents my personality. I know improv and physical comedy mostly because I've been fed "SNL", "Monty Python's Flying Circus", and "National Lampoon" since I was born. And when I first found out about this i decided to go here and seek help.

SO PLEASE HELP ME

P.S. I appolgize if the following doesn't make sense, I'm just a little worried

i need some help with this screen play i'm writing. i want there to be different 20 year olds telling an obscene story about highschool days. so if you dont mind, tell me something you remember that sticks out that parents would freak out about. tell them something about generation x that will be shockworthy and truthful. it can be vulgar, nasty, sex related, non sex related. something you maybe saw or heard about. doesnt necessarily have to be something that happened to you.

thank you

Script Idea for Final Film Project [27 Aug 2004|06:14pm]

z0ltan
I'd like to get some ideas from you people, or at least your opinion on my idea for a script. It's a 16mm film project with sound, lighting, the works, for my final class in film school. 5 to 10 minutes long. (no longer) Here's the idea:

Night:
Have two cops show up to a house because neigboors called in screams. Thinking they have a domestic violence crime, they come in and search the house. They find the father hiding in a corner, covered in sweat, holding a bloody bat. They ask him to put the weapon down. He refuses, mumbling to himself. They ask him where is family is, and he says they're all dead. Handling it like a murderer they yell at him some more but he still refuses.
A Silhouette appears behind one of the cops that only the crazy father notices.
When he reacts by lifting his bat, the cops shoot him. He slides to the ground dead. A Pause. The silhouette attacks one of the cops from behind. The screeching girls bites one of the cops and they throw her to the floor. She sloppily gets back up despite being told to stay still... so the Cop tries his billyclub on her. The blows don't seem to affect this cracked out girl. On her next lunge the officers are able to get the crazy girl to the ground and handcuff her.

Reeling from the attack and taking a breather, they are about to call in for backup when they see the father get off the ground again..... and begin lumbering toward them, moaning.

A gun fight would ensue as the cops try to deal with things that don't die. One cop would be killed and the other forced into hiding in a room. I'd probably let one cop survive, but he'd have to kill the other zombified cop first.

Another version would have the bloody father with a gun. After he's killed, the surviving cop would use that gun to kill his zombified partner, to avoid plot holes of "well wouldn't the cops do an autopsy and find it was his 9mm bullets from a glock?"

Anyway, you get the idea I'm trying to do: Start the movie off in the direction of cop drama, then surprise the audience with zombies. Some aubtle music, dark lighting, I think it would work.

What do you guys think?
Have a better idea on how to do it?
How would you do it?

(crosspossted because I only have two weeks)

Hi [20 Aug 2004|12:22am]

[ mood | contemplative ]

Well I too have been thinking of a screenplay. I've began and stoped work on about 8 or so in the past 3 years or so. My strong points are crazy turn of events in drama and comedy. So basicly all my screenplays have been about high school, granted I'm only going into my Junior year but I figure 'might as well write about it while I'm still here". The basic plot of it is the story of all 4 years in high school for a guy and his friends, they share ups & downs, funny moments and embarassing moments as well, the hook ups & just plain sick crap. But the basic plot is the story about 4 or 5 friends who went in Freshmen year as best buds for life and after Senior year they've drifed so far apart they rarely hang out now, which has kind of happened to me and some of my freinds. One becomes active in sports, the other in music, drama, social clubs, commiting a fellon, and other stuff that I'm forgetting.I think most people would agree with me that there's a lot of stuff that teen comedies haven't really covered, or have forgotten about. I don't know where to go tho I get so far then I stop because there's nothing else to write about. So please help me if you can

Hello everyone! I typed Robin Williams in the Search Engine and found ya. And I like what I see. I've tried writing many, many, many screenplays and always end up getting a writer's block. It might be because I'm only 16 but who knows. Anyways I can't wait to see what others have to say here.

See you on "The Dark Side of The Moon"
